Iran, major US crude rival in Asia

TEHRAN, July 28 (MNA) – Iran has turned to be a US major crude oil rival in Asia following the Geneva deal-inspired increase in oil production.

Reuters wrote on Monday that Iran is a rival in US attempts in 40 years to export crude oil.

Despite sanctions upon Iran by Western countries through last years, Iran is now selling high quality oil to China which leaves little room to the US crude to enter the world’s top energy consumer.

China has already sealed an annual contract with Tehran and is not expected to take any U.S. oil for a while.

"China gets condensate from Iran, which is much cheaper than that from the US," said a Singapore-based trader with a European trading company.

Following the interim Geneva deal on Tehran peaceful nuclear program and removal of some parts of sanctions Iran oil, gas and petrochemical export increased.

Yesterday Press TV said that Iran’s year-on-year exports from the South Pars natural gas field increased 49 percent in the last Persian calendar month (ended July 22).

Also on Saturday Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that the country would come to launch 10 new refineries in South Pars region in the south of the country.
